  1. Overview
DBabble provides the ability to send a message to all users on the Local DBabble server at once. (or a certain category of users such as logged in users, or existing users) Note - you will be not allowed to send broadcasts unless the administrator has explicitly given you permission to do so. To send a broadcast, select Broadcast New Message from the Message menu in windows, or from the link at the top of the main window in a web browser.

  2. Broadcast Message Storage
Broadcast messages are not duplicated for every user they are sent to, so large messages or attachments can be sent to all users with little overhead. Every user who receives the broadcast message has a link to it added to their message list, which takes up only a few bytes of disk space per user.

  3. Broadcast Types
DBabble provides four different categories for selecting the recipients of the broadcast.
    1. All logged in users
This means the message will be received by all users currently logged in to DBabble, including users who are idle.

    2. All existing users
This means the message will be received by all users on the DBabble system whether or not they are currently logged in. Users whose accounts are created after the message is sent will not receive it.

    3. All existing and future users
This means the message will be received by all users on the DBabble system whether or not they are currently logged in. Users whose accounts are created after the message is sent will receive it when they first log in.

    4. All new users that will be created
This means that the message will only be sent to new users when they create their account. They will receive the message the first time they log in. Existing users will not receive the message.
