Requesting a New Conversation
To request a private conversation with another user, you must first find them.
You can then click on the Talk Privately button.
Alternatively, in Windows, you can usually right click on the user's name and choose the Talk Privately option.
Once you have made the request, you will be taken to the conversation window which will notify you when the other user has either accepted or rejected the request.
-
Accepting a request from another user
When another user requests a private conversation with you, a window will pop up asking you whether you want to accept or decline the request.
If you decline the request, the other user will be informed that you have done so.
If you accept the request, you will be taken to the conversation window.
-
The Private Conversation Window
Once you have either requested or accepted a private conversation, you will be taken to the conversation window.
This lists everything that both you and the other user have said in this conversation session recently, as well as a box to enter the next thing you want to say.
If you are using a Web Browser, the other user will only see what you have typed after you press <Enter>.
If you are using Windows, the other user will see what you are currently typing in grey text, before you press <Enter>.
Note - In the Windows client, there is a checkbox to keep the window always on top of other windows so that you can switch to other applications and still see what the other user is saying. This feature does not work if you have unchecked the preference for "Show Task Bar Icons For Message Windows"
